A canoe trip of roughly 20 km on the waters of the Twiske and Ilperveld. Launched our canoes near a sluice reducing th enumber of portages. The route first follows winding waterways through meadows. After a portage paddling through Landsmeer into the Ilperveld.
When lucky you the reeds will be cut recently and you have wide views of the surrounding countryside, distant villages, and Amsterdam North. Often you wil find yourself alone on the clear water and accompanied by birdsong.
There are some scenic lunch stops offered time to rest before continuing through the quiet Ilperveld, passing birdwatching huts, small windmills, cows along the banks, and narrow channels near Ilpendam. The final stretch loops back toward the starting point in the middle ot the Twiske.
