MARREKRITE (STAVOREN)

Another three day kayaking and camping trip in the Friesland lake district (Approximately 14km, 26 km and 18 km).

Started at the camper parking near Molkwerum, a bit north of Stavoren. Fine place to park the car and get on the water. Just around the corner a restaurant with restrooms.

Again basic, self-sufficient camping bringing food and water.

The first day a relatively short trip to the first camping spot. Contrary to our information camping was not allowed where we intended to stay, so needed to improvise and share the place with some nosy cows.

The second day a longer paddle. First a stop-over in Balk for coffee and some pastry. Then we crossed the Slotermeer. The lake can be rough and challenging with more wind, but we were lucky and had a flat surface and smooth crossing.

Early afternoon a lunch stop in the Heeg. Then the final stretch to our second camping place Marrekrite Grütte Gaastmar (Gaastmeer). No one around to share the place.

The last day we returned to Stavoren using a detour and visited Hindelopen. A nice traditional place.
