The Danish Islands & North Sea Coast

We travelled the islands of Fyn and Sjaelland. Crossed with the ferry to the mainland and stayed at lake district near Silkeborg. Finally a few days on the island Romo after a visit to Legoland, Billund.

Fishing For Crab
The first day we arrived late in the afternoon at the campground north of Middelfart.

The next day we spent some time on the sandy beach near Bogense. A bit windy, but fishing for small crabs was a lot of fun.

Next we travelled to the east coast of Fyn and camped a few days at Tarup Strand camping. From the campground we visited Odense. A very nice city with small streets and traditional houses.

Odense
A bit more to the south you will find Egeskov Castle near Kvaerndrup.

The castle itself is very beautiful, but the grounds include a great playground for the children. You will find a nice maze to get lost. Furthermore there are some museums in the old buildings next to the castle with old cars, airplanes and other machines.

Saelland With Copenhagen

Nyhavn, Copenhagen
Vejby Strand camping in the north offers nice places, good playground and swimming pool. From the campground you can easily visit Copenhagen and the beaches nearby.

In Copenhagen you have a few "must do" attractions. First of all you should visit the statue of The Little Mermaid, the main character of the fairy tale by H.C. Andersen. Next walk through the city catching the sights.

Nyhavn is the old port with restaurants & bars. Colorful houses and numerous beautiful boats at the quays.

Walk through the streets with shops towards the Tivoli park. The park is an amusement park with entertainment and food. Several nice rides for children and musical performances.

Silkeborg

From Saelland Odde we took the ferry to the mainland. We arrived at Ebeltoft and camped in the woods nearby.

Slaenso Lake
Next we travelled to the lake district near Silkeborg. Not too far from Silkeborg you will find a nice campground Skyttehusets located on the border of the lake. We rented a canoe at the campground to explore the lakes.

From the campground you can make a short hike to the nearby Slaenso lake.

We also visited the aquarium at Silkeborg. They have an aquarium allowing the kids to touch the big fishes. The children can also help feed the otters.

Billund & Romo

A mandatory stop for the children is Legoland at Billund. A nice park with attractions for kids up to 8 years. You can buy lego a bit cheaper at any quantity and a lot of colors.

Ribe
On the North Sea island of Romo we rented a cabin. The weather wasn't too great and it rained frequently.

We couldn't really enjoy the beaches. Even for a walk the wind was too strong. Still the old town of Ribe makes a good day trip.

Dunes
On Romo you will also find several trails taking you into dunes with small trees and ponds.

The terrain is ideal for bird watchers.
