Faneuil Hall Marketplace
Faneuil Hall
Most visitors will start the visit near the
Faneuil Hall (Quincy Market). In Faneuil Hall you will
find the tourist office for more information. In
particular get a map of the Freedom Trail and take the
walk the 2.5 mile through downtown Boston. You will get
some background information about the American
Revolution.
Inside the market you can get something to eat or
otherwise try the restaurants nearby. In the weekends
you might run into performances of theater or dance
groups.
China Town
China Town
Next walk towards Boston Common. The place for
Boston families to spend the weekend, to play soccer or
volleyball. East of Boston Green you will find China
Town with small shops with exotic names in Chinese
characters selling the ingredients for a spicy meal.
Shopping At Newbury Street
Near Copley Square
Stroll through the center continue from Copley
Square towards Newbury Street. Newbury Street is the
most import street for shopping in Boston. One long
stretch with specialty shops, restaurants & coffee
shops. In particular for those interested in the big
names of Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Donna Karan. I
visit the shops of The North Face and Patagonia for
outdoor stuff.
Haymarket
Haymarket
Walk along the Boston river and take a rest in
the Esplanade. The park with the Hatch Memorial Shell
offers a nice location for a picnic and during the
weekend a concert.
At the other side of the river you find the
Cambridgeside Glleria Mall with the Apple Store inside.
Continue downtown and near the I93 you will find the
Haymarket selling fresh fruit & vegetables and
fish. You will see a lot of people with different
cultural background. A very lively and colorful
display.
Italian North End
The North End
Cross the street and enter the North End. This
part of town is Little Italy for Boston.
On any Saturday afternoon you will see Italian
Americans stroll. They drink an espresso with pastry,
do some last minute shopping an buy cannoli wrapped as
little presents. You will find the big families eating
pastas and fresh fish.
Finally goto the New England Aquarium just around the
corner.
Rockport
Rockport
In case you got transportation and some time to
spare head out and explore the coast towns. Small ports
with small streets and small houses. The fishing fleets
in the harbor. Great for relaxing and weekend outings.
